WHAT IT’S ABOUT

Kids solve problems every day. But some problems are too big, too dangerous, or too urgent to handle alone.

Can’t I Just Handle It Myself? helps kids understand what an emergency really is, when to get an adult, when to call 911, and what happens when first responders arrive.

The goal isn’t to make kids afraid of emergencies. It’s to help them know what to do when something serious happens.

Some problems are meant to be handed off.

Knowing when to ask for help is a skill.

An emergency can make your brain and body react fast, sometimes before you’ve had time to figure out what’s happening. Having a plan makes it easier to stop, look at the situation, and choose the right kind of help.

You don’t have to solve everything yourself. Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is get the problem into the hands of someone who knows what to do next.

  • Handle It

Some problems are safe to solve yourself. Stop, think about what happened, and decide what you can reasonably do.

  • Get a Grown-Up

If something feels unsafe, confusing, or too big to manage alone, find a trusted adult and tell them what’s happening.

  • Call 911

When someone is badly hurt, in immediate danger, or needs emergency help right now, 911 connects you with people trained to take over.

You don’t have to handle everything yourself.

Can’t I Just Handle It Myself? gives kids practical tools for recognizing emergencies, getting help, talking to 911, and understanding what first responders do.

Because knowing when to hand a problem off can be just as important as knowing how to solve one.
